Mahone Fund Carthage College Access Awards
Zachariah Jackson
Zachariah Jackson will attend Carthage College and major in Sports Management. Zachariah has played Football and was Team Captain in 2023. He earned an SISU Award in 2023, was active in the African American Initiative and on the Honor Roll. He is determined to overcome challenges and embrace successes.
Addison Busby
Addison Busby will attend Carthage College and major in Nursing. Addison has volunteered for many community activities, including Santa in a Shoebox, Shalom Center, Feed my Starving Children and at the Great Lakes Church. In school she is a DECA member, National Honor Society member, Varsity Swim Team Captain, and has taken six Honors or AP classes. She is also a Life Guard. Describing herself as a “people person,” she truly wants to help others.
Tamyha Bennett
Tamyha Bennett will attend Carthage College and major in Nursing. Tamyha has been active in Orchestra, Key Club and Academic Decathlon. In addition, she has been a Teacher Aide and worked at J C Penney and the Boys and Girls Club. Through scheduling and time management she has learned to successfully balance study, activities and work commitments.
Angelina Lagunas
Angelina Lagunas will attend Carthage College and major in Pre-Law. Angelina is a member of Youth in Governance, the Swim and Dive team, and is a teacher assistant. She desires to get ahead with the opportunities presented to her, make her parents proud, and to help other people. A college degree can help achieve those goals.
Cheyenne Shaw
Cheyenne Shaw will attend Carthage College and major in Liberal Arts. Cheyenne has been part of the Dance Team, the Choir, African American Initiative, and the Cantare. She’s been on the Honor Roll and volunteered at the ELCA Outreach Center. She keeps challenging herself to move forward.
Aiden Bloomer
Aiden Bloomer will attend Carthage College and plans to major in Computer Science. Aiden has consistently been on the Honor Roll and earned a Presidential Award for Academic Achievement. He has consistently taken college level courses and AP courses during high school and strives to be his best. Education helps realize his personal potential.
Antwonae Haney
Antwonae Haney will attend Carthage College and plans to major in Business Administration. Haney serves as a tutor for middle school students at Lincoln Middle School through the Kenosha YMCA. She actively participated in African American Youth Initiative, Orchestra, Indian Trail Hawkettes Dance Team and ITHSA Student Council just to name a few. During her summer months she participated in the Summer youth Employment program where she enjoyed learning new things and making connections. She is excited for her post-secondary journey!
Vania Salinas
Vania Salinas will attend Carthage College and plans to major in Criminal Justice. Vania is part of the National Honor Society and was Captain of the JV Soccer team. In addition, she received an academic award and was in the Student Spotlight. In the summer she worked at Busy Bee childcare, providing assistance as needed. Learning through virtual classes challenged her to become a more independent and responsible student, preparing her for college learning.
Maximillion Kapsalis
Maximillion Kapsalis will attend Carthage College and plans to major in Aerospace Engineering. Kapsalis has taken Honors and Advanced Placement classes, been first chair playing viola in the Orchestra, and loves Science and Engineering. An avid gamer and he is a Street Fighter player. He is currently ranked top 20 in the US and top 100 in the world, with his character "Guile". Additionally he was also a NASA/Kennedy Center Space Camp design Challenge winner. He volunteers at the Kenosha Dinosaur Museum and truly enjoys helping and teaching others.
Jade Tyler
Jade Tyler will attend Carthage College and plans to major in Chemistry. Jade was a Todays Teen and selected for the Herb Kohl Initiative Scholarship. She has worked multiple part time jobs and has learned to successfully manage time by balancing multiple projects, including numerous school, jobs and family responsibilities. She knows that big things in life can be achieved with positivity and pushing for the very best.
Alina Cundari
Alina Cundari will attend Carthage College and plans to major in Veterinary Sciences. Cundari is very active both inside and outside of school and has participated in activities such as swimming, running and the creative arts. Her highlight while in high school has been actively engaging in the theater. Cundari also prides herself in volunteering for various theater events. She plans to continue her passion for the Arts while in college.

Caden Lyons
Caden Lyons will attend UW-Stevens Point this Fall. As an active member of the Bradford football team, Student Government, African American Youth Initiative and other organizations, Caden has engaged in multiple service and philanthropic ventures. Dedicated and hard-working, he plans for the college experience to direct him toward a fulfilling and meaningful career.
Deena Westby
Deena Westby plans to major in Kinesiology. As a Volleyball player, Basketball manager, as well as Camp Counselor, Deena has worked hard to achieve activity and study balance. She has been recognized as a Top Teen of America repeatedly, and has persevered to learn that success is achievable through dedication and balance.
Melissa Horton
Melissa Horton plans to major in Psychology. A musician, a Mentor and a member of multiple National Honors Societies, Melissa has formed strength, resilience and motivation to look at the brighter, better and achievable future ahead. Winner of the Mayors Youth Commission Award, a volunteer teacher assistant and a Walmart employee, she moves forward independently.
Lamont Dagen Jr.
Lamont Dagen Jr. will attend Winona State University and plans to major in Communications. Dagen is very active in sports in which he excels in playing basketball and football. Notably for basketball he earned an SEC Conference Honorable Mention and for football Kenosha County player of the year and a host of accolades. He is also an active member of the African American Male Initiative and has high academic honors. Outside of the classroom he loves giving back to his community and has obtained over 100 hours of community service. He has learned to overcome obstacles and to enjoy life treasures.
Jimyah Fullilove
Jimyah Fullilove will attend Gateway Technical College, majoring in Education. An active Travel and High School Cheerleader, Jimyah is also the Mahone Middle School Assistant Cheerleading Coach. She has been in Band since 6th grade, participated in the African American Initiative Program and accumulated over 100 Community Service hours.
Semia Hillard
Semia Hillard plans to major in Journalism, minoring in Sports Journalism. A member of National Honor Society, Student Council, Women’s Empowerment and DECA, Semia also has completed Community Service hours. She has learned that accessing needed support to overcome challenges leads to immeasurable successes in her academic and life journey.
Kennedy Kirby
Kennedy Kirby plans to major in Film Production. Kennedy has been part of Youth Voices Project, Courageous Conversations, and the Morning Announcements program at Indian Trail. Being a member of Student Council, Chairperson for 1 year, Choir, African American Youth Initiative, Women’s Empowerment, Link Crew and National Honor Society, has encouraged her to follow her dream of Film Making.
Kenneth Osorio
Kenneth Osorio plans to major in Radiography. Kenneth has been active with Health Occupations Students of America and won a Bronze medal in local competition. He is also a sound technician for his church’s band. Currently working in technology at Walmart on weekends, so school can be a main focus, he continually balances adversity and challenges, knowing he can succeed.
Jayden Gordon
Jayden Gordon will attend Upper Iowa University, majoring in Business Administration. Jayden has played football for 4 years, earning numerous honors, been a Wrestler-twice Conference Champion, and broken relay Track records. In addition to completing Community Service hours, he has served as Ambassador for his school and worked for Happenings magazine and the Kingfish. His drive for success and meeting challenges continues to push him forward.
Isaac Gray
Isaac Gray plans to major in Computer Science. Isaac competed in Track and Field, engaged with Key Club, FBLA, Youth as Resources, National Honor Society and many other school activities, as well as being class Vice President his Senior year. He also served at the Shalom Center, was a Peer Helper, received the Bronze Presidential Volunteer Award and the Mayor’s Youth Commission Award, and in other multiple service arenas. An AP Scholar, Isaac always faces and overcomes challenges.
Enze Price
Enze Price plans to attend the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Enze plays piano, is a Kenosha County Executive Committee member and is active in Boy Scouts. He is National Honor Society Co-President, a Varsity Tennis athlete and a member of Golden Strings. He believes learning to approach challenges in a variety of ways can help define true goals and expectations.
Destiny Garcia
Destiny Garcia plans to major in Biology or Allied Health Science. Destiny received the Kenosha Kindness Award, is a Youth member of Building our Future and a church choir member. She has earned Student of the Year in World Literature Honors and AP Biology. She is a 2023 AP Scholar of Distinction. Additionally, she is a member of Lakeview Environmental Club, Student Government, Skills USA, Mentorship program and a tutor. She focuses on what matters most.

Angel Maldonado plans to study Nursing at Herzing University. Angel has been involved in Volleyball Club, National Spanish Honors Society and Spanish Club. He is employed at Walgreens. He is driven by the desire to make a difference and help others.

Olivier Blonvia
Olivier Blonvia will attend Carthage College and plans to major in Computer Science. Olivier is a member of the school choir and enjoys singing and drawing. He is part of the Link crew and National Honor Society. Winning two art awards, of which one work was displayed in the Kenosha Museum for a year, he plans a creative future.
