Reaching for Rainbows Gala Event
On behalf of the Mary Lou and Arthur F. Mahone Fund, you are cordially invited to attend the 14th annual Reaching for Rainbows “Pursuit of Excellence” gala. This event will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 in the Todd Wehr Center at Carthage beginning with a reception at 5:45 p.m. followed by the program at 7:00 p.m. Please join our host Carthage, our family of friends and supporters for this spectacular community celebration which through the memory of Mary Lou and Arthur Mahone honors our future leaders and those who contribute to lifting up this community.
Our Career Exploration (CEO) initiative, which provides academic and career coaching to minority youth from ages 14-17, prides itself on celebrating the accomplishments of our aspiring students. This year, ten ambitious, community minded high school seniors will receive the Mahone Youth Scholars award. Because of your generosity we will increase each scholarship award from a non-renewable $1,000 award to a $2,000, 2 year renewable award. In these difficult economic times parents find it harder and harder to pay for college tuition, books, room and board. Your contribution to our mission allows us to give tremendous relief to those hard working parents while creating a pathway for deserving young people to complete a college degree. Over the years, the return on your investment produced graduates from quality schools like MIT, Carthage, Michigan State, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, Concordia, Morehouse, Gateway Technical College, University of Wisconsin Madison, Marquette University, University of Wisconsin Parkside, Grambling State, College of Lake County, just to name a few.
The Reaching for Rainbows program will also honor UW Parkside with the prestigious Signature Award for their exemplary support and contributions to the Mahone Fund and their commitment to sustaining Mary Lou and Arthur’s legacy while creating legacies for future generations. Previous award winners include, Time Warner Cable, Aurora Health Care, Gateway Technical College and Carthage College. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, April, 25, 2012 as we celebrate 14 wonderful years of “Reaching for Rainbows.”
